Me and Hani
I’m a trained creativity coach, energy medicine healer and shamanic practitioner.  I’m also a textile artist and have an intimate understanding of the issues that face people attempting to express themselves creatively. My interest lies in facilitating the healing and helping of creative expression using spiritually developed energy medicine and shamanic healing together with my coaching skills as a means to freedom and fufillment in all it’s glorious diversity.

I have practised as a textile artist since graduating from Manchester Polytechnic (since renamed Manchester Metropolitan University) in 1988 with a BA Hons degree in Textiles/Fashion. I qualified as a coach after training with Coach Training Alliance in 2005. I studied Advanced Energy Field Healing under the tutelage of Sue Zange having already achieved a Diploma in Energy Field Healing and  have qualified at the Advanced level in April 2009. I also graduated from Hearttracks Shamanic Practitioner Healer Training with Churaig in October 2009.

The connection between energy and creativity is one that has long fascinated me and I aim to develop techniques to allow people to become more in control of their own creative power and enable them to express and manage it more effectively. To me healing and creativity go hand in hand. How can a bird sing if it’s wings are broken? It’s hard. Healing on all levels can release psychic energy that is used up when we are in “survival mode” to express ourselves creatively and blossom.

My approach has been heavily influenced by the practical study of Aikido (japanese martial art) and the teachings of it’s founder Morihei Ueshiba.  Zen and Native American teachings also resonate strongly with me. I have ancestors that travelled from Cornwall and Devon and became intermingled with the Muskogee or Creek nation now settled in Oklahoma and I feel an affinity to many First Nation lifeviews which also seem close to Zen. The belief that plants and animals have spirits seems so natural and fitting to me and as a child and young adult I would sit for hours in hedgerows listening to birds and observing nature which I still enjoy doing. I became interested in Shamanism over a decade ago and I have had healing sessions with several shamanic practictitioners. The world of shamanism is one of truth, intelligence and healing. It is one of the oldest healing systems in the world and seems so right and instinctive. I respect the work of Sandra Ingerman (Soul Retrieval) and the shaman Eliot Cowan (Plant Spirit Medicine) as well as Chinese 5 Element Theory.
This poem by the poet Aaron Kramer – sums up how I view the healing process:

Prothalamium

Come, all you who are not satisfied
as ruler in a lone, wallpapered room
full of mute birds, and flowers that falsely bloom,
and closets choked with dreams that long ago died!

Come, let us sweep the old streets–like a bride;
sweep out dead leaves with a relentless broom;
prepare for Spring, as though he were our groom
for whose light footstep eagerly we bide.

We’ll sweep out shadows, where the rats long fed;
sweep out our shame–and in its place we’ll make
a bower for love, a splendid marriage-bed
fragrant with flowers aquiver for the Spring.
And when he comes, our murdered dreams shall wake;
and when he comes, all the mute birds shall sing.”
